The NFL is back! The first games of the season kicks off on Thursday night, and the rest of the weekend’s matchups are sure to be exciting. There are a lot of questions heading into this season: Can Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers lead their teams to the playoffs? Will the Dallas Cowboys finally live up to their potential? What will Jimmy Garoppolo do in San Francisco? We’ll find out the answers to these questions and more over the next few months. In the meantime, let’s take a look at some of the matchups for week 1.
NFL Regular Season Week 1 Betting Outlook
It’s the first week of regular season action in the NFL, and we anticipate some incredible games.
Today we’re going to take a look at each of these games and make our picks.
New Orleans Saints vs. Atlanta Falcons – September 11, 2022 12:00pm CST
The regular season continues with two NFC South teams. On one side, you have the New Orleans Saints, now without head coach Sean Payton. Under a new head coach, we’ll likely see a change in the Saints playbook as well. We also worry about Jameis Winston, who had a 64.4 QBR in 2021.
The Atlanta Falcons also have a new look this year with Marcus Mariota at quarterback. Frankly, Mariota fits this role much better than Matt Ryan did. He’s mobile and can extend plays with his legs but he also has an accurate arm. We’ll take the Falcons at home over the New Orleans Saints.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Chicago Bears – September11,202212:pm CST
Trey Lance has been named the starting quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. However, Jimmy Garoppolo has been kept on as the backup. The 49ers have a fast-paced offense featuring Lance and WR Deebo Samuel.
The 49ers face off against the Chicago Bears, who are in the process of a rebuild. Another young quarterback will get the start for the Bears as Justin Fields takes the gridiron. Although the Bears are at home, the better bet here is the 49ers at -7.
