Before you get your picks in for Action 247’s Daytona $500 Challenge, here are some nuggets to keep in mind:

Race Notes

  • Co-favorite Joey Logano (+1000) is looking for a rebound season after following up his title-winning 2018 season with a fifth place finish in 2019. Logano failed to crack the top 10 in 11 of the final 21 races last year, including a 25th place finish at Daytona International Speedway in July. On the plus side, he has finished in the top 6 in his last four Daytona 500 appearances.
  • Alongside Logano as co-favorite is Denny Hamlin. Hamlin has found great success on this track over the course of his career as he comes into race having led the most career laps at Daytona (442) among all drivers slated to start on Sunday.
  • Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will begin the race in pole position after his leading qualifying time last Sunday. Austin Bowman will start next to him in the second position. The rest of the field will be determined by Bluegreen Vacations Duels on Thursday. The Duels consist of two 60-lap races. The drivers who finished in odd-number positions after qualifying will race in Duel 1, and the even-numbered finishers will round out the starting order in Duel 2.
